Top Tips to Get Your Home staged and ready to sell!

15th February 2023

When selling your home presentation is key and we strongly believe that first impressions are the most important, here are our top tips to think about before selling your property:

Deep clean

Clean your house inside and out and from top to bottom and try and keep it as clean as possible. Cleaning doesn’t cost anything however if you think your carpets or curtains need a good clean it is recommended that you get these done professionally.

De clutter

Less is more! De-cluttering your house will make it look bigger and more attractive to buyers. Make sure you do not have unnecessary items on your kitchen counter – remember the serious buyers will look in your cupboards, so ensure these are tidy and de-cluttered as well.

Let the light in

If you have dull light bulbs, think about getting these changed for brighter ones, this can help make a room look bigger. Make sure all windows are cleaned inside and out. Making sure curtains and blinds are pushed back will help let light in as well. If you want to go as far as redecorating, using neutral colours on the walls/ceilings helps reflect light making your home look spacious.

Fix anything that is broken

A well-maintained house will scream out to buyers that it has been cared for. Buyers will also reduce their offer if they can see something that needs fixing if you can fix the problem yourself do so, an example of this would be changing a broken light bulb to a working one. However if it is a bigger job, we would advise seeking professional help – you will not regret this in the long run and it will help you achieve the best possible price!

Maintain your garden

Make sure your garden is well kept and tidy, your lawn is mowed, weeds are out, and your bins are put away, if you have garden furniure it is recommended that you leave it out with the cushions made ready for the professional photos.

Remember its all about good first impressions!

First impressions really do count as buyers will judge your home before they have even stepped in it! Make sure the front of your property looks clean and well kept, it isn’t just the inside that counts. Look at the outside of your property from your road, how does it compare to the others? Also remember that you will make a good impression if your property smells nice, putting a candle on or having fresh flowers when buyers walk into your home will give the best first impression.
